The vie inconnue of Jesus Christ was published in 1894 and was a big success. Nevertheless, at once there appeared the detractors of the book, who were doubting the veracity of the gathered in him. In short, they were splitting between those that Buddhists were doubting of the veracity of the texts, although not of the good faith of Notovich, and those who were accusing this one of having invented the whole history and to be the author of the poems on the Issa life. The hardest of the critics was the famous philologist and orientalist Max Muller. Earlier, a cardinal of the Catholic Church had tried even to prevent the publication offering money to Notovich.
To all this, it is necessary to say that Notovich had taken photos during all his trip … that unfortunately were watched through the fault of a servant.

Two travelers moved up to Ladakh to verify the veracity of the history, but far from it, his testimonies only served to increase the entanglement. Some Archibald Douglas, teacher in Agra, affirmed to have come to Hemis and spoken with the mud, who made sure him that no Russian with a broken leg had been there and also he was not knowing what was a thermometer (one of the gifts that Notovich was saying to have done him). Of course, he denied to have writing that they were speaking about Issa.
When the Russian is on the point of falling down in the absolute discredit, there enters scene an Indian philosopher, friend of Max Muller, called Abhedananda, which had gone to Hemis to "unmask" definitely Notovich. But, much on the contrary, it returns saying that the history is true. He has spoken with the mud, which it has confirmed him that met the Russian traveler and taught him the manuscripts, which also it shows to the proper Abhedananda. The Indian published his trip writings in the book In Kashmir and the Tibet, which I do not know if it is translated. What is it true? was Douglas cheated for distrustfully mud? did Abhedananda have any motive for lying? After so much time we continue without answers. Certainly, I suspect that if it happens to someone to go today to Ladakh to look for manuscripts on Jesus, it will find them for dozens, for a few rupees.

Really skeptical the article of mister Calvo, and it gives very convincing information. But I do not know porqué, warn too much cruelty in demonstrating that it is false, he even chooses to ridicule Notovich …
I do not know, these fanaticisms, in this skeptical case, they have always seemed a little suspicious to me.
